Keeping a house clean while you’re busy can be quite difficult. There are so many responsibilities to fulfill that sometimes you still end up foregoing cleaning even when it is on your daily to-do list.

Woman ready to clean

To help you take control, below are five helpful tips on how you can keep a tidy home even when you’re extremely busy.
1. Develop a routine.
If you’re a busy mom, creating a cleaning schedule you can stick to will help you keep your house clean and organized. Assign a cleaning task for each hour or a couple of minutes to be productive. Here are some basic routines you can follow to keep your house organized.
Morning Routine
 >Start your day early. Wake up early so that you can have some time for yourself and reflect before beginning a busy day ahead.

Clean bedroom

 >Make your bed. This is a good start and quite easy to do. Fold your blanket, plump up your pillows, and leave your bed neatly arranged so you have an inviting bedroom to come home to.
 >Do some daily laundry. Finishing up a single load of laundry per day is not time-consuming at all. This will help you keep your laundry from piling up.
 >Empty the dishwasher. Make your kitchen clean-up easy by emptying your dishwasher. After breakfast, it’ll be more convenient for you to wash the dishes since you can automatically place them in the dishwasher.

Clean Kitchen

Evening Routine
 >Empty the sink and ensure all dishes are clean. Cleaning the dishes never ends. Doing this task in the evening will prevent having to face a pile of dirty dishes the next morning. Washing them will also prevent the proliferation of germs as well as pests like cockroaches and ants.
 >Start the dishwasher. Doing so will make it ready for emptying and filling-up after breakfast the next morning.
 >Clean tables and counters. If you want to start your day right with a clean kitchen, leaving it tidy at night is a surefire way of keeping your kitchen hygienic. Practice “clean as you go” when it comes to table and counter tops not just at night, but all the time.
 >Sweep and mop the floor. Sweeping and mopping the floor every night will help maintain cleanliness in common areas.

Cleaning the Floor

 >Get a laundry basket. Spend as little as five minutes in going around the house to collect the day’s laundry. Put it all in a basket then place it beside your washing machine for tomorrow morning’s load.
 >Think of what you need tomorrow morning. If you are quite busy most mornings, then prepare the things you need first thing next day at night so you don’t get frazzled.

Cleaning Supplies

2. Keep cleaning supplies accessible.
This is quite a straightforward way to avoid having to go through the entire house to be able to do some spot cleaning. Whenever you see a mess, grab your cleaning tool then tidy up the area right away. Doing so will prevent dirt or mess from accumulating. Having the best cleaning tools will also help you save time.
3. Get rid of things you no longer need — quickly.
Keeping items you no longer use around the house will promote clutter build-up. It’s time that you let go of useless things that will only make your home untidy. Also, getting rid of useless things will free up some space in your house for organizing new items.

Clean Living Room

4. Focus your attention on the common areas.
If you’re really quite busy, make sure that the clean rooms are those that your guests might be in. For most houses, these will be the living room, kitchen, and main bathroom which are all high-traffic areas. This can be quite helpful in reducing stress when you have guests coming in, and you don’t have enough time to do a thorough clean.
5. Fix broken things right away.
Appliances are items you rely on to keep the house clean. When your washing machine and dishwasher break down, make sure you find time to fix them right away. Don’t put off repairs to save time, money and inconvenience in the future as delaying can backfire on you.

Cleaner Spray

The five tips listed above should help you stay on top of your housework even with a busy schedule. You can also avoid the stress of having an untidy home whenever last-minute guests arrive.
The best way to save time in tidying up is to clean what you can regularly, and have a professional cleaning service do the deep cleaning once in a while. This way, you still have time for yourself to relax and enjoy other things in life.
