DIY Methods
DIY or Do-It-Yourself Projects have gained popularity over the years. This is because it is usually less expensive to create what you want or need, and it can be made according to your exact specifications. DIY can include anything from pictures, décor items, wall hangings, art work, furniture, children’s toys, and much more.
The Internet has design plans for just about anything you can imagine, including fun crafts for kids or serious furniture projects such as wardrobes and tables. Whatever you desire, there is a chance to make it!

Charm Your Guests
Do you have a guest bedroom? There are some neat DIY projects that could make your guest feel really at home. Try a shutter table, using four shutters painted or stained to whatever color of your choosing and place a glass or wooden top on it for the perfect rustic bedside table.
Adding jars with paper cutouts, messages inside, or sand and candles are easy DIY décor items that can also make a guest feel at home. Going for more of a hotel look? Try fresh flowers in an elegant vase or jar or use artificial flowers for a long-lasting effect.

DIY Bench Seat

Make an Entrance
Making your entry way to your home beautiful is easier than you think! A great DIY project is to build your own bench seat or cubby storage. It only takes several pieces of wood, a stain, and some time!
Add a cushion on top or baskets in the cubby holes for more organization. Old pallets can be used to create a coat rack by adding hooks and a nice coating of paint. Create a “welcome” sign using an old board and a stencil to paint over. There are so many great possibilities for DIY projects for your entryway, and all your guests will be wowed.
Relax and Enjoy
The living room is named for just that…living! This room is generally the hub of the house, where family and friends gather to watch movies, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company. A great DIY project for the living room is creating a sofa table.

wood planks

These can be made using wood or pallets and your favorite stain. This can also save you hundreds of dollars and allow you to build a bigger, custom piece that might suit your room better. Pallet signs or wood art are also nice décor items for the living room. Create your frames out of boards, or make some decorative arrows or signs with quotes or phrases on them. The sky's the limit when it comes to DIY living room décor!
Have Fun but Be Careful
Decorating your home is exciting and gratifying. When creating DIY pieces using wood, please use caution. Many projects require tools such as drills, saws, and electric sanders. Cords can become tangled, and accidents can happen.
Try to organize everything and if you have to change saw blades or drill bits or similarly related items, make sure everything is unplugged first. Saw blades cause a lot of trips to the hospital each year, and you don’t want to be one of them.
