Here are 4 Tips for Staying Organized & Focused This Year:

Invest in storage bins:

  • Gain more space in your dorm room or apartment with storage bins. A great organizer is an over-the-door organizer. This can hold anything from shoes to haircare and makeup products. Another great option is an organizer cart that's perfect for organizing extra desk/school supplies.

  • Investing in plastic three drawer wide towers is great for extra room for your clothes or books. The more organized you are, the more relaxed you will feel in your space. Make sure everything has its own place so your room is always clean. A tidy room means you can relax and focus on your studies.

Invest in a planner:

  • A planner is a must! Never forget an assignment, group meeting, or club event! Plan out your day involving classes, extra-curriculars and everything in-between. With a set schedule, you will find that you are completing everything on time and you should feel less stressed. A well-planned calendar for the month or even week, will allow you to see the big picture and upcoming assignments important for your class standing.

Invest in comfortable bedding and decor:

  • College life can be a lot. From balancing classes, socializing, and late nights studying, you need a spot where you feel relaxed, comfortable, and at ease. Make sure you have a bedding set that you love, comfy pillows, and a cozy blanket for nights you need to decompress and unwind. Be sure to make your bed daily. This has been shown to improve mood and is pertinent to avoiding a cluttered look when you get back from your classes.

Self-Care:

  • It might feel like you are drowning in your workload, and you might feel like you can't catch a break. That's ok! You will get through it! Take a step back and make time to calm down and focus on yourself. Make time to enjoy doing the things that make you happy. Prioritize keeping your space clean and decluttered so that you can use your open space for a movie night, workout, socializing, or anything that will make you feel at ease!

Organization will reduce stress throughout the semester, help you achieve your dreams, and allow you to enjoy the time you have in your dorm or college apartment. As a college student, you will be managing a lot of things, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Create a schedule and space where you will succeed. Good luck this semester!
