Guest Blog: Top 5 Decoration Ideas to Fall for This Season

Oct 20, 2021by Jenny Zhu
Whether you want to spice up your home this fall or are fed up with the same old decorations this season, in this article there will be 5 different ideas for decorating this season. These ideas will range in price and timeframe, so there will be something for everyone, even your children can get involved in a few.

Bring nature inside

Bring Nature Indoors
One way that is completely free and has always been a popular option, but is becoming increasingly more so, is to bring certain elements of nature indoors to decorate your home. Pumpkins are a popular choice around Halloween due to their connection with the season, while others use pinecones and fallen leaves to create a rustic feel to their homes. Alternatively, if you’d prefer something easier to contain, try to incorporate seasonal flowers into your decoration. Flowers can really brighten up a room, so for a bit of seasonal flair, don’t be afraid to bring a touch of nature into the home. You could potentially really change the ambiance of your home by taking inspiration from the seasons’ changing colors and scents.

Change the Table Linen
When setting a table, it is easy to change the linen to match the season. Placemats and runners come in a variety of colors and designs, so when thinking of ways to decorate for this season, why not buy some of these in shapes or colors reminiscent of the season. One recommendation that I have come across is a leaf shape or pattern in autumnal colors to portray the imagery of the leaves falling from the tree. When it comes to the runner, you could buy a seasonal one, or potentially buy a plain one and add your own designs should you have the ability and are unable to find one that you like.
Space Remodeling
Maybe you want to completely change the appearance of one of your rooms for this season and aren’t sure how to do it. Or, you simply want to change a few aspects of a room to fit in with the new trends for fall. For instance, if you want to remodel your kitchen it is best to sit down and plan out exactly what you want and how you want it done. Some of the remodeling options that are trending this year are having hot water on demand instead of needing to boil it, black stainless-steel fixtures, natural-looking backsplashes, etc.

Handmade Crafts
Something that you can involve the kids in, or do yourself because no one is too old for arts and crafts, is to make your own decorations this season. There are so many different things that you can make or paint to use as a decoration in your home to make it feel more like fall. Maybe you want to paint some pinecones in fall colors, make felt pumpkins, or create your own wreath, both will create the atmosphere that you are aiming for in a way that doesn’t cost a lot of money. It doesn’t matter how much experience or ability you have in creating things, there is an activity for everyone.

Cozy Blankets and Fluffy Pillows
As the season changes, so does the weather. Not only do cozy blankets and fluffy pillows look welcoming and soft, but you will also be able to curl up on the couch amongst them with a hot cup of coffee after being out in the unwelcoming weather. After all, when you think of a welcoming scene in the colder weather it always involves a couch in front of a fireplace with a fluffy blanket thrown over it and you chasing away the autumnal chill.
Final Words
However you decide to decorate for this season, there are so many options available to you and even just following an autumnal color scheme can tie the season into your decorations. The five tips above are ideas that can be taken in several directions and developed until they are what you are looking for or something that will fit into your home.
