Have you just bought a home, or you moved into a new apartment? You understand that there’s a need to design your home to your taste. It’s also possible that you got tired of the present arrangement and want to give your home a facelift. The point is, there’s a need in your home, and you need to find your vision and bring it to pass.
Finding your interior design vision isn’t an easy task. Conceiving that vision in your mind is one thing, and bringing that creative imagination to life, especially within your budget, is another thing.
You might have people around you, a roommate or partner, that you can share your vision and work together to bring it to life. However, many times people move out to their apartment to be their person. We understand this, and that’s why we are writing this article to help you. The following tips will come in handy for you to find your interior design vision.
Social media platforms
1. Look around for inspiration.
The best way to inspire yourself to create your vision is to look at other people’s work. Thankfully, there are a lot of places that you can explore for inspiration. A typical example of this is Pinterest. You will find numerous pictures that will inspire you on this platform. Be careful not to overuse it. Simply go for the ones that catch your attention and note them. You will surely find a thread that can help you fine-tune your taste.
Another place you can look at for inspiration is model homes. Once you gain entrance into these homes, you’ll get inspiration from what you see around you. You’ll probably find ideas that you’ve thought of, so this gives you a physical view of what you're imagining. However, most often than not, you’ll find design ideas that never crossed your mind before.
Also, if you know your way around Instagram, you’ll be able to find good inspiration for your interior design vision.

2. Follow your style
Everyone has a style that is unique to them. It might be similar to other people’s and might be classified the same, but you’re who you are, and your style is who you are. Your preferred style will determine your taste and how you vision your interior design.
Three major styles would determine your taste:
Classic: This will include the use of patterns, soft texture, and ornaments to create a warm and homey feeling and also improve relaxation and comfort.
Contemporary: The minimalist arrangement best epitomizes the contemporary style. It’s a smooth and sleek style that tends to basic shapes, clean lines, open spaces with little or no adornment.
Transitional: This is the midpoint between the classic and contemporary styles. It mixes the warmth and comfort of the classic design with the clean profile of the contemporary design. It often includes geometric lines, patterns, curves, etc., to create an elegant interior.
Find your style if it’s classic or contemporary or the transitional style in-between, then you can plan your interior design with that.
Your lifestyle is important.

3. One of the things that you have to put into consideration is your lifestyle. For instance, you have to consider your pets and kids when choosing your style as they can determine many things.
For instance, it might not be a good idea to choose a hardwood floor if you have a pet. This is because some of these woods are probably distressed and may or may not be able to hide scratches, which are inevitable from your pets. You can settle for a smoother look if there are no pets. Also, if you have kids, you should not paint anything white, not the cabinet walls. I shouldn’t have to explain why or how your kids will stain the white all over and make it all dirty.
4. Look around your home for cues.
While you’re thinking of how you can recreate your home’s interior design, you might get decorating ideas and cues from the look of your house at the time. You might want to start by looking back to what era the house was created. This is an excellent starting point. Afterward, you should also consider the house’s permanent elements and numerous features, which you’ll need to improve.
The way the house is built and the available spaces will go a long way to determine how you will design it. You might have a master idea that you want to implement, but you’re most likely going to be affected by the spacing in your home. So, it would be best if you put it into consideration from the onset.
5. Take your time
You can’t be thinking short term when planning the interior design of your house. You’re designing or redesigning it for the long term, whether you’re just moving into the house or you've been living in it for a while already. There’s no reason to rush. Take your time to plan it properly.
Of course, you will be working within a budget, which is more reason to take your time. You can’t go off on a shopping spree as soon as you get into the house. Make sure that you’ve settled down first and you already have a clear vision of what you want, then go for it one piece at a time.
6. Analyze places and things that you find interesting
There’s a big possibility that you’ve been to a restaurant, a friend’s place or some other places and you fell in love with their interior design or decor. If it makes you feel at home and comfortable, it might be a good idea for you to bring in those elements that you love in your home interior design as well.
For a start, you could take a mental or physical picture of how the place looks like. Then compare to yours and try to see how some of those features fit into your house. Once you’re able to imagine it, then you can bring it to life one piece at a time. In the end, you’ll have all of those features that make you comfy and at home.
7. Think outside the box
It’s very easy to restrict yourself to paintings, ornamentation, lamplights, etc., when thinking of your interior design. However, there are many other things that you need to consider. Think out of the box. Home automation is a common thing these days, and you can benefit from it as it saves bills and makes you more comfortable at home.
Home automation allows you to control everything in your home, from security to audio, lighting, etc., with a button. That's too much ease for you to not consider as a significant part of your home interior design or redesign.
Conclusion
There are many things that you have to consider when bringing your home interior design vision to reality. You can achieve it in many ways, but the tips in this article are essential to make it easy for you.
